Tri 2 B Fit offers personal training

by Lisa Ginn November 4, 2010
written by Lisa Ginn November 4, 2010

get in shape with tri 2 b fitIt has been a long time since I had the now infamous conversation with Kelly Barnes about eating a Twix bar.

If you haven’t heard the story, it happened during one of my first personal training sessions at Tri 2 B Fit. I started at Tri 2 B Fit for one thing and one thing only

So, it was on this visit that Kelly was asking me about what I ate the day before, like she usually does to help so many of us struggling not to diet but to find the right balance of foods and calories to lose weight. I rattled off the usual stuff and ended with a Twix bar.

Her eyes widened a bit as she had a look of surprise wash over her face. She asked, “A Twix bar?”

“A Twix bar,” I repeated. Then came the zinger.

Kelly asked another question. “Why?”

Ohhhh, ouch. Here I was professing up and down to want to lose weight, and yet, I had not only purchased a Twix bar, I consumed the whole thing without so much as a sideways glance at the nutrition label.

I share this story because it was one of those pivotal moments that spurred me forward to take an honest look at myself and my eating patterns. It prompted me to make the necessary changes to eventually get to my goal weight. There have been many more moments like that over the last 10 months of working with Kelly and her crew at Tri 2 B Fit.

Sometimes Kelly has to ask me the tough questions to get me to move forward with my goals. Other times, she is the cheerleader I need in my corner. In addition to reaching my goal weight and losing more than 30 pounds as a client at Tri 2 B Fit, I have lost over 13 percent body fat. I also dropped four pant sizes.

While being coached by Kelly, I have shaved an hour off my previous half ironman time, and I am currently training for one of the hilliest and hardest half ironman courses in the U.S. Whether it’s swimming, biking or running, Kelly has refined my techniques and helped me to reduce my individual times. I am thankful to have found a place, which I know both supports and encourages me on my journey… at first a journey of weight loss, and now a journey to Ironman Arizona.

I would love to see you at Tri 2 B Fit soon. No matter what you do, watch out for the Twix bar!
