santa visits museumSanta Alert! The air traffic control tower at Falcon Field Municipal Airport has reported seeing a blip on the radar screen near the North Pole.

It looks like Santa Claus has begun his 3,905-mile journey to the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Arizona Wing Aviation Museum, located at 2017 N. Greenfield Road, at Falcon Field.

Santa is scheduled to arrive on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. The first 100 kids will receive a diecast model of the B-17. The museum will host a special Breakfast With Santa before the facility opens, with 80 children from Salvation Army and Apache Junction homeless shelters.

Santa and the CAF Arizona Wing will help the East Valley Firefighters Charities collect toys for needy children this holiday season during their annual toy drive. The museum will collect new, unwrapped toys and canned food through Dec. 18.

On the day of Santa’s visit, special admission prices will be in effect. Admission will be free for children 12 years old and under, and $10 for those 13 years old and over.

Santa will be talking to all the girls and boys who come to the museum that day, gathering their Christmas wishes and checking his list to make sure they have been good this year. Doors are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Santa Claus arriving at 11 a.m. Admission includes a tour through the aviation museum. Toy drawings will be conducted every hour.

Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the museum that day, and receive free admission, or bring canned food, and receive $1 off of the admission price. The East Valley Firefighters will distribute the toys to needy children throughout the area for the holidays.

The CAF Arizona Wing Aviation Museum encourages everyone to join the East Valley Firefighters in making sure needy children have a happy holiday season.

The Toy and Food Drive will run through Dec. 18 this holiday season at the CAF Arizona Wing Aviation Museum.

“Supporting the East Valley Firefighters’ efforts to collect toys for needy children this holiday season is such a worthwhile cause,” said CAF Arizona Wing Leader Rick Senffner. “We hope everyone will participate to make this holiday season special for the charities the East Valley Firefighters support.”

The museum’s gift shop has exceptional aviation gifts, which also can be purchased online at www.azcaf.org. For a truly unique gift, you can purchase gift certificates for rides on the Arizona Wing’s World War II T6 and Stearman Trainers, B-25 Mitchell or the B-17 Flying Fortress Sentimental Journey, C-45 and L-16.

The CAF Arizona Wing is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to education and the preservation of historic aircraft, artifacts and our history. For more information on the CAF Arizona Wing Aviation Museum, please call (480) 924-1940, or visit the Web site indicated above.

The CAF Arizona Wing Aviation Museum is located at 2017 N. Greenfield Road, at Falcon Field Municipal Airport.
