The Red Mountain Welding Team finished the season with another impressive showing in the Mesa Public Schools Best in the West statewide competition, winning second place.

In the past two years, Red Mountain High School has finished with two back-to-back first-place wins and this year, second to Mingus High School, from Cottonwood. The team missed first place by only three points.

“We have a very young, but determined team that never gave up,” said Dan Hurst, welding instructor at Red Mountain High School. “We worked to the last minute as a team, with the motto America, here we come.”

As coach and teacher, Dan has great expectations for the coming years. “With the administration we have, these young men will make a difference in the industry,” he said. “With principle Jared Ryan and assistant principle David Marks as honorary team members and avid supporters, the welding class at Red Mountain has become one of the best programs in the state.”

“Thank you to all the members of this award-winning team,” Dan said. “America, here we come.”
