New Church Comes to Northeast Mesa

by St. Ignatius of Antioch Church February 1, 2013
written by St. Ignatius of Antioch Church February 1, 2013

prayerA new Christian community in Northeast Mesa has turned a former office building into a house of worship.

St. Ignatius of Antioch, an Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, is now conducting services at 5515 E. Redmont Circle, just off Thomas Road, between Higley and Recker roads. Reverend Father James Coles is the pastor of the church, which has been active in the Mesa area for the past 10 years.

St. Ignatius is home to a group of Christians worshiping in accordance with the Eastern Orthodox tradition. Divine Liturgy is served each Sunday morning at 9 a.m. preceded by Orthros Services at 8 a.m. Great Vespers services are held on Saturday evenings at 5 p.m. All services are conducted in English, and the congregation is a mixture of Orthodox Christians from all ethnic backgrounds.

Visitors are always welcome and are encouraged to attend services. The congregation wants to be an active presence within the Northeast Mesa area. Evening Prayer and Inquirer classes are held at the church on Wednesday evenings.

For information about St. Ignatius of Antioch, please call (480) 892-6224, or visit the Web site at www.saintig.org.
