Little League Minor All-Stars going to State Tournament

LITTLE LEAGUE PIC 2 copyCongratulations to our local Red Mountain American Little League (RMALL) Minor All Star team on winning the District 7 Championship and becoming Mesa City Champs.

RMALL boundaries include schools and residents east of Power Road, to the west side of Meridian Road, north of McDowell Road, and as far south as the north side of University Drive. District 7 consists of eight different little leagues from Apache Junction and Mesa.

RMALL is very proud of the hard work put in by this Minor All Star team. The team is made up of 12 boys ranging in age from 8 through 10. Each was nominated by their regular season coaches for outstanding performance and sportsmanship and selected by the RMALL All Star committee. Head coach Will Ohman, with his two assistant coaches, Phil Moore and Wayne Scott, led the team.

The boys defeated opponents in their first two District tournament games guaranteeing them a third game and eventually placing them in the championship game against Four Peaks Little League (FPLL). After leading FPLL with five runs for the first four innings, Four Peaks came back to close the gap to a one-run lead for RMALL in the fifth inning.

Players went through an emotional roller coaster as FPLL starting closing the gap. After a brief pep talk from the coaches, the boys rallied their spirits and came together to play an incredible final two innings, maintaining their lead and winning the game.

Players weren’t the only emotional ones after the game, as proud parents, grandparents, friends and other RMALL players cheered and shared tears of pride and joy for the RMALL team.

If you would like additional information about RMALL, or to find out how this team finishes, you can visit the RMALL website at rmall.us or like them on Facebook.
