Flancer’s Presents Sixth Annual Dessert Baking Contest

by Flancer's October 2, 2014October 15, 2014
written by Flancer's October 2, 2014October 15, 2014

PrintAre you a pie-oneer?

The word desserts spelled backward is stressed, but there’s no need to stress this contest.

If you are the winner, your charity of choice will receive $1.50 from each winning dessert sold, for one year, at both of our restaurants. As a winner, you will receive a $100 Flancer’s gift certificate and a super cool trophy. Last year’s winner was Jesse Kolman and his Chocolate Peanut
Butter Pretzel Pie. His charity is at www.nokidhungry.org. This year, we are on track to raise $5,000 for No Kid Hungry.

The deadline for submitting your recipe is Oct. 16. Simply send your recipe, along with a dessert photo, which would be helpful but is not essential, as well as your charity of choice and a brief description of why your dessert is so good to jeff@flancers.com.

If your dessert is selected, we will ask for a baked sample, for our judges, on Sunday, Oct. 19, at our Mesa restaurant. The winner will be chosen based on the following criteria:

  • Visual appeal of dessert
  • Taste of dessert
  • Ease of recipe
  • Readily available ingredients
  • Originality

Our past winners’ charities have been beloved little Penny, from Mesa, who needed a heart transplant; the Susan G. Komen for the Cure; Gabriel’s Angels; and AZ Brain Food. Each year, we raised thousands of dollars for these charities. Let‘s raise some money for your favorite charity.

This year, Flancer’s received honorable mention in a national sandwich contest.

Rockin’ taste buds since 2000, Flancer’s Incredible Sandwiches and Pizzeria is a family-friendly restaurant, providing unique food on freshly baked bread by staff members who get to know the customers by sight. You can enjoy Flancer’s unique menu and special events, including beer and wine pairings. Join us at 610 N. Gilbert Road (one-quarter mile south of Guadalupe Road), in Gilbert, or at the Mesa location, 1902 N. Higley Road (just south of McKellips Road).

You can learn more about Flancer’s Incredible Sandwiches and Pizzeria by perusing the menu, or discovering more about this event and other exciting events on the horizon by visiting online at www.flancers.com or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/flancerscafe and www.facebook.com/flancersmesa.
