Enroll in Medicare When It Is Right For You

by Tapestry Insurance June 1, 2019
written by Tapestry Insurance June 1, 2019

A couple who both were past the age of 65, with him still working, recently met with me to compare their current employer plan with available Medicare plans.

While he was considering retirement, he also was concerned about losing their employer insurance. One interesting aspect of his concern was his wife’s health. She currently is dealing with some health concerns, and he wanted to be sure switching from his current plan to a Medicare plan would not change her level of care.

The good news is since they will both be signing up for Medicare Part B coverage, they are in the guarantee issue time frame. This means they can choose any Medicare plan and not have to answer any medical questions. He was relieved to know she would continue to receive care even if he retired and switched to Medicare.

I often meet with people considering retirement who have questions about what to do and how to proceed. Sometimes, a Medicare Supplement plan is more advantageous, and sometimes, a Medicare Advantage plan really can save money for retirement. It is always so interesting to help people make these very important decisions.

One thing I have learned is that every person has unique circumstances, and there is no best plan, only a plan that is best for you. As an independent Medicare agent, I can help you find the plan that fits your individual needs and lifestyle.

I also can help you determine if staying on your current plan is the best choice for you. In addition, I can help answer questions about when to sign up for a plan and any late enrollment penalties of which to be aware.

If you are new to Medicare, or you are turning 65 in the next year and have questions about which plan to choose, or have any other Medicare questions, please call me, Lynne Jones, a licensed salesperson, at (480) 212-2246.
