Ease the Pain Highlights Top Five Complaints

by Ease the Pain Physical Therapy June 5, 2011
written by Ease the Pain Physical Therapy June 5, 2011

Ease the pain helps relieve back painDid you know, in Arizona, a person in pain can be treated by a physical therapist without a physician referral?

Here at Ease the Pain Physical Therapy, we are highly trained, licensed professionals who can help identify and treat a number of musculoskeletal ailments in children and adults of all ages. Our 10 years of experience in effectively treating pain have given us a unique perspective into the root sources of mysterious pain. Our top five most common complaints are listed below. They may surprise you or, we hope, at least get you thinking.

1. Low Back Pain/Sciatica—Many people experience low back pain and its associated symptoms. It is a topic of discussion, from top medical institutions, to magazines, to late-night infomercials. The lumbar and sacral spines are composed of complex layers of structures with a myriad of possible dysfunctions. Bottom line, a thorough spinal evaluation is necessary in order to identify the problem(s), and build an appropriate treatment plan for your pain.

2. Neck Pain—Got a crick in your neck?  Have a nagging neck pain? The root may be coming from your neck or could be from another area lower down the chain—maybe your low back or pelvis. Again, a comprehensive spinal exam is paramount.

3. Shoulder/Sub-Scapular Pain—Do you wake up in the morning with an unexplained stabbing pain in your back, shoulder or down your arm? Have you been diagnosed with shoulder impingement, rotator cuff or carpal tunnel? Yes, the root cause could truly be in your shoulder or scapula, or it may be coming from a dysfunctional rib or collarbone.

4. Fibromyalgia—This is a complex and mysterious diagnosis. Root causes harbor debate, from neuromuscular, to bacterial, to psychosomatic (in your head). Few sources mention rib cage dysfunction and poor breathing dynamics. It tends to make sense, doesn’t it? If your ribs don’t work, you’re a poor breather. Then, you don’t get enough oxygen, and body systems can deteriorate. Maybe it’s multifaceted, but definitely worth a look.

5. Lower Leg/Ankle/Foot Pain—Do you have problems with your ankles or feet? Are you chronically clumsy? Is one pant leg longer than the other? The root cause may be a misaligned pelvis.

Are any of these pains on your list? Our experience leads us to believe at least one is, and we’re experts at finding them. If you think we can help you, please call us at (480) 854-7246. We’ll be happy to discuss any questions you may have.
