Desert Rose Theatre Presents Holiday Extravaganza

by Desert Rose Theatre December 4, 2011
written by Desert Rose Theatre December 4, 2011

rat pack musical comedyThe award-winning Desert Rose Theatre is celebrating the holiday season by transporting its audience back to the Sands Hotel in Vegas for a holiday gathering of the Rat Pack—Sammy, Deano, and Frankie—back together again in their heyday.

This delightful musical-comedy show features some of the singers’ most treasured music, while also reminding us they generated as many laughs on the stage as songs. Katherine Stewart, Desert Rose Theatre’s artistic director and author of the show, says the show will be long on dapper nostalgia.

“Today, we don’t have a lot of suave men’s men,” Katherine said. “The Rat Pack were the anti-hipsters. They were crooners. They didn’t scream. They treated women like ladies, and wore tuxes, not grunge,” she continued. “I think a lot of us who weren’t alive then look back in longing, and those who were around feel a deep sense of nostalgia for these guys.”

Musical numbers include The Lady is a Tramp, Baby it’s Cold Outside, That’s Amore, The Christmas Song and many, many more.

The multi-talented cast features Valley stage veterans Kellen Garner as Frank Sinatra (Mesa); Mitchell VanTrease as Sammy Davis Jr. (Glendale); and Scott Brooks as Dean Martin (Queen Creek). The show is written and directed by award-winning Desert Rose founder, Katherine Stewart (Mesa).

The show is being performed at Desert Rose’s brand new theatre at Power Square Mall, 2055 S. Power Road, conveniently located at the U.S. 60 and Power Road in Mesa—seconds from the 202.

Performances are on Dec. 8, 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17, at 7:30 p.m., and on Dec. 10 and 17, at 2 p.m.

Tickets may be purchased by going to www.brownpapertickets.com, or by calling the Brown Paper Tickets box office at (800) 838-3006. Tickets are $18 for adults; and $16 for students, seniors, teachers, military personnel and first responders. Group rates are available. More information about Desert Rose Theatre can be found at
