Desert Rose Preschool at Las Sendas – July 2013

by Rose Buttitta June 29, 2013
written by Rose Buttitta June 29, 2013

It is my sincere wish to thank the community and all the parents for their kind words and prayers during my illness. While the road to recovery has been long and tedious, hopefully, the day will come when things are back to normal.

Summer Camp

The summer camp is under way, and the children are having a great time being together, making and learning new things. For the Fourth of July, we will be making flags and having a parade, as well as enjoying lots of fun crafts. Then, we will be learning about dinosaurs. The children will paint dinosaurs, and make fossils, which they will bury and then dig up just like the archeologists. We are going to finish up with the study of bugs, the solar system and volcanoes.

Summer rates will be as follows:

Five days a week:

9 a.m. to 1 p.m., $385 per child, $100 per week

Three days a week:

9 a.m. to 1 p.m., $310 per child, $80 per week

Two days a week:

9 a.m. to 1 p.m., $285 per child, $70 per week

We will offer daily drop-ins in the afternoon for a $10 fee.

Fall classes will start on Aug. 26. You should receive a phone call and a postcard to let you know the time and days your child will be attending. If you have not heard from me by August, please call me. I will offer any schedule to meet your needs. If you have a special need, please let me know, and we will work it out. As a teacher, I’m very flexible.

Remember, Desert Rose Preschool at Las Sendas is not a day care, but a private educational preschool.

There still are spaces for all fall classes

These are the regular fall classes:

•  Two days a week, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., or 1 p.m. lunch bunch, or 3 p.m.

•  Three days a week, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., or 1 p.m. lunch bunch or until 3 p.m.

•  Four days a week, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., or 1 p.m. lunch bunch or until 3 p.m.

•  Five days a week, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., or 1 p.m. lunch bunch or until 3 p.m.

•  All day five days a week, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

You pick and choose the days and times. Remember, 3-year-olds must be potty trained. Please call me for
information at (480) 654-4223, or send an e-mail to jbuttitta@cox.net.

Desert Rose Preschool shall provide an environment for growth, development and learning at the child’s individual pace. The curriculum includes readiness/reading, language development, music and rhymes, math, art expressional activities, literature, science, social studies, character and physical development and special family events. Desert Rose students learn to be ready for their journey of learning.

Desert Rose Preschool is a place where children feel secure because they are surrounded with patience, understanding and love.

Desert Rose is a very unique school. We give individual attention to every child, and learn what the individual needs are. We work one on one to make sure the child enjoys school and wants to learn.

The children have art every day, and also a curriculum-based foundation to get them started for kindergarten. Most of our children do very well in kindergarten because they have had the introduction to the fundamentals of learning.

Summer Safety

Splashing and swimming in a cool, blue pool is a hallmark of summer, but it requires a parent’s watchful eye. Each year, 300 children drown in swimming pool accidents, and 2,300 more require emergency treatment after being submerged, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. For whatever type of pool you’re swimming in this summer—backyard, community or hotel—follow these tips to keep your children safe:

•  Watch your child constantly in or near the water, even if he is a good swimmer.

•  Never leave your child alone in or near a pool, even for a few seconds.

•  Always keep infants and toddlers within arm’s reach.

•  Enroll kids in swimming classes.

•  Know how to perform CPR on a child.

•  Surround a backyard pool with a six-foot fence with a self-locking gate.

•  Remove all toys from the pool after use.

•  Never substitute a floating device for your full-time attention. Floating aids can be great fun but are not meant to serve as safety devices.
