written by Commemorative Air Force Aviation Museum November 2, 2011

sentimental journeyThe Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Arizona Wing is proud to announce the Veterans Day events schedule for Nov. 11 through 13, including the fourth annual Gathering of Legends.

The public is cordially invited to attend the three-day celebration. All events are intended to honor the military aviators and crewmen, who have done so much to ensure our freedoms.

Schedule of Events

On Friday, Nov. 11, the Arizona Wing will host Dinner With The Legends, at the Hilton Phoenix East/Mesa, located at 1011 W. Holmes Ave. A social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., with dinner set for 6:15 p.m. Many notables, from the world of military aviation, will be in attendance.

On Saturday, Nov. 12, the Gathering of Legends will be held at the Arizona Wing Aviation Museum, located at 2017 N. Greenfield Road. This event is believed to be the largest Veterans Day gathering of military aviators in the Southwest.

Museum doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. Opening ceremonies will begin at 11 a.m. Normal admission prices apply.

On Sunday, Nov. 13, the Arizona Wing is pleased to again conduct the RAF Cadet Memorial Service in the Mesa Cemetery, located at 1212 N. Center St. This event remembers the 23 British cadets, who died in training accidents at the training school at Falcon Field during World War II, and who are buried in the Mesa Cemetery. The opening ceremony will begin at 10:45 a.m. There is no charge for this event.

The CAF celebrates our heritage of freedom through flight, education, exhibition and remembrance. For further information, please contact the Commemorative Air Force at (480) 924-1940 or (480) 268-2144. You also can visit the Web site at www.azcaf.org.
