Blanket Donation Drive Helps Homeless

Wool socks and stack of various sweaters. Winter style. Isolated on whiteAs the winter season approaches in the Valley, Phoenix Rescue Mission is gearing up their street outreach programs to hand deliver blankets to persons and families on the streets.

One local dry cleaner, Carla Jetton, has a passion for the community. She set up her store as not only a collection site for any bedding donation, but will clean and package the donation at no cost to the organization or those donating.

Carla’s experience includes operating dry cleaners and fire/flood restoration claims for nearly ten years in the Portland, Oregon area prior to raising her family in Northeast Mesa.

The drive begins Nov. 1 and runs through Nov. 30. Greenfield Cleaners and Textile Restoration is located at 1309 N. Greenfield Road, on the northeast corner of Greenfield and Brown roads.

In addition to outreach programs, Phoenix Rescue Mission continues to provide a long term recovery program for men and women with children. Your donations will find themselves in a Community Market, where families can come and receive food boxes along with clothing and comforters.

Join your neighbors in giving back to the community during this season of hope. “While blankets may not seem a tragic necessity in the Valley, for those who spend countless nights on the streets, they are a blessing,” said Carla.

For more information, contact Carla Jetton at (480) 287-4377, or visit the website of Phoenix Rescue Mission at phoenixrescuemission.org.
