A Few Tips Make Shopping at Costco Interesting

13685278_xxlWhen visiting your local Costco Wholesale location, there is a very good reason why your favorite pretzels are never in the same place as the last time you were there.

During a recent monthly meeting of the Red Mountain Ranch Social Club, featured speaker Carl Baldwin, head of marketing and membership for Costco, informed those in attendance the change in placement is part of marketing.

“Moving products around is like a continual Easter Egg Hunt,” Carl said. “While you’re looking for your pretzels, you see items you may never have seen before.”

Interesting information Carl presented

  • The food court, which is so popular today, started years ago with a simple hot dog cart.
  • Products featuring a star are discontinued.
  • Products with a 99 designation are reduced in price.
  • The color green designates organic.

Carl mentioned the fact you can place an online order for those large items that won’t fit in your vehicle, and have them delivered to your door for no fee.

To avoid the busiest times in the winter, shop from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Members of the Red Mountain Ranch Social Club will meet for breakfast at different nearby restaurants on the second Thursday of the month all summer. To join us, call Betty Day at (480) 325-1342. We would love to meet you.
