Around Valentine’s Day we hear a lot of talk about love. My initial thought was to write about the fluttery feelings I received from my first Valentine card from a boy I really liked. I was in junior high school. However, that was not true love. That came later when I met the boy who would become my husband for 51 years, and those feelings grew into a genuine love that deepened with time. That’s a nice story. In the Song of Solomon in the Old Testament, the bride says her lover’s kisses are better than wine.
The Bible is God’s love letter to us. His words are His kisses, bringing contentment, peace, joy, and much more. And unlike physical wine, we can’t ever drink too much. Whether we’re drinking in a whole chapter or slowly sipping on one verse, there’s no cost. Now that’s love.
